1972 a year when Miners were on strike, Terrorists attacked the Munich Olympic Games, Northern Ireland was in turmoil all was not well in the World, but the Founders of Hereward the Wake saw in their wisdom a future for the Knight Templar Preceptory and Priory of Hereward The Wake No 439.
A foresight proven on Monday 31st October when a meeting to celebrate fifty years of continuous meetings was held at the March Masonic Hall.
A celebration witnessed by forty-eight members and guests with the Provincial Prior, Sub Prior and Prior of Malta along with the Past Provincial Prior and R E Kt Tim Wheeler the Great Marshal and Mareschal.
E Kt Graham Clapperton, the Eminent Prior, led the Priory Officers in an exemplary Installation of Kt Craig Rothwell.
At the end of the Priory meeting the Eminent Prior received on behalf of the Priory a 50 year certificate presented by the R. E. Kt Colin Birkbeck the Provincial Prior, E. Kt John Rowell the Provincial Sub Prior and Prior of Malta along with R. E. Kt Stewart C. L. Middleton the Past Provincial Prior.
The evening finished with a splendid meal and hospitality not to be missed.
