The New Knightly News - May 2020

I must confess this issue is much earlier than I would have liked, but due to the recent pandemic, I felt that it would be more prudent to keep in touch with you all, this way as we cannot meet together for the foreseeable future.

The vast majority of us have never seen times like this in our life time, but I am certain that we will all rally round, when the restrictions have been lifted and come back with a renewed vigour, to demonstrate that we have not wasted those recent days, weeks and months, with no masonry, by demonstrating that we have still been practising our Knight Templar and Knights of Malta Ritual, all be it in the solitude of our own homes.

It seems such a long time ago, since we had our Provincial meeting on Saturday 22nd February 2020, which incidentally was the last one in the Country to be held, before the shutdown occurred, but of course it has meant that the New Brother Knights who had been appointed, are not able to go around the Province as Provincial Officers, so hopefully it will not be too much longer, before they can do so.

Our next Great Priory meeting, which was to have been held at Great Queen Street, London on Wednesday 20th. May 2020, and as you may have realised, has had to be cancelled, but I am taking this opportunity to inform you all of the appointments and promotions of those Brother Knights who have been honoured by the Grand Master.

First Appointments:

  • Nigel P. Gibson Dunwich No.538 P. Gt. A. de C.
  • Ian H. Macklin Walter Short No. 451 P. Gt. W. of R.

  • Ian A.F. Dupont Walsingham No. 497 P. Gt. Reg.
  • John R.L. Maultby Lynn Regis No. 330 P. Gt. Herald

I am certain that you will all join me in congratulating them, and wish them all happiness and good health to enjoy their new ranks, and hopefully we will all be back to normal to see them ranked up at our Great Priory of Malta meeting on Tuesday 17th. November 2020, at Great Queen Street, London..

I am sorry that I cannot bring you better news regarding our forthcoming events, because at the moment we just do not know, but needless to say you will all be notified as soon as we know.

I have been so pleased in the way that you have all been rallying round your memberships, by contacting those who may be on their own, or in need of a friendly voice, or to read an Email , enquiring into their wellbeing, please keep that up, I can assure you it has been well received.

I will leave you all with a few lines from that Vera Lynn song that was so poignant, all those decades ago, when she rallied everyone by those unforgettable words……..

We’ll meet again,

Don’t know where,

Don’t know when,

But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.
